WAF (web application firewall)

A WAF (web application firewall) is a protection that inspects the traffic reaching a website or web application and blocks attacks aimed at it, such as SQL injection, XSS or malicious bots. Unlike a network firewall, it understands the content of each web request, not just where it comes from.
