Whaling

In cybersecurity, whaling is a type of phishing aimed at senior executives, such as the CEO or CFO, to get them to approve a wire transfer or hand over confidential information. The message impersonates a partner, an attorney or a regulator and is built from public company data. For example, an email asks the CFO to pay for an urgent acquisition.
